Three Thirteen and Relaxing Card

I did not like the name of my blog. I created a new blog. Turns out I lost a lot of pictures. These pictures still show up on the You might also like: thumbnails. You click on one. You see a black box. I delete them. Thumbnails are still present. You click one. The message is "Sorry, the page you were looking for in this blog does not exist". Sorry about that. I know it's a bother. I still don't like the name of my blog. Then it came to me in a dream last night...3 and 13. My two favorite, luckiest numbers.  This is now the name of my blog: Three Thirteen. My address is still, http://creativepapermyway.blogspot.com/, same as it always was, except now I feel better seeing Three Thirteen. Thanks for listening. Here is a soothing card for you:
It's all Stampin' Up, one we made last week at stamp camp. I love the flowers and the sentiment.

Thrifty Find?

Well, they were free for me, and anything free is usually a good thing. Right?
These bowls are marked, "oven ware U.S.A.". I don't know anything about them, except I like them. We inherited them from my husband's grandmother. These are the three in the set.
Here are the large and mid sized bowls, you may remember from my herb post. By the way they will be coming indoors this fall/winter.
I'm holding the small one here in my hand and it is tilted a little funny. They appear to be hand painted, but have a very smooth top coat of some kind. You can see a chip in the smallest bowl above. The painted flowers are in perfect shape and no chips on the top edges or anything.
Here is the bottom, not stamped but hand engraved. Does anyone know anything off hand? I would love to know if anyone has these. I know I could do some research, but thanks if you can help.
One last shot of the dirty bottom of the smallest bowl!!!

Happy Day and Featured at Inspire Me Fridays

Thank you Maria, at Joyful Stamper, for featuring me this week at the Inspire Me Fridays link party. Check out Maria's lovely blog, she makes the best cards and paper craft items! Her link party attracts everything from cards, crafts, recipes, to re-purposed items. This is the ATC she featured, thanks again!
This ATC is called 'Happy Day'. Doesn't she look happy to have her man home from the war? Such a gentle kiss  from him and adoring look from her. Only 3 more ATC's left in my 'Couples series', I know you are probably getting tired of seeing them. *smile* Thanks so much for visiting!

ATC

I'm almost done with my ATC Couples Series. This is "Grey Snow". The ribbon around the bottom is actually  a soft pink organza. It makes for a nice little 'pop', but I couldn't get a good shot for anything that day. I've been working for an upcoming tutorial. Look for it on the first Monday of August. Thanks for stopping by! I love to know what you think.

Lavender and Roses

Couples Series #11. The base of this ATC is lavender, but looks grey. I guess that's normal, seeing as lavender is grey, heehee. Thanks for stopping by! I love to read your comments.

Pink~Blue~Ivory~Suede

I think this color combination came together nicely for this friend card. I love the three different fibers tied together in the corner, My friend actually put mine together while she made hers. That's one of the fun aspects of stamp camp, we all work together. It's a good thing, because we talk so much it would be easy to make mistakes! I've been trying to revamp my blog look, and am in the process of moving my party badges and links to a separate page. If you can't find what your looking for check out my updated tabs above. Couples Series #10

I've titled this one "Blushing Bride".  Weddings weren't always the huge event with the big white dress, my grandmother was married in a short dark blue dress. The couple here remind me of my grandparents wedding pictures. A simple ATC for a simple wedding! ~Thanks for stopping by~

A Non-Stampin' Up Card

I know, hard to believe isn't it? Actually the card stock, ink and the image stamp are SU. They're the best for cs and ink. Really, the whole idea is the fact that I actually make things outside of going to stamp camp once a month. This is a card that I came up with for my friend to use to invite the parents of the children who are receiving Bibles from church. I wanted it to be simple but different from last years version. This was a normal year, so I only had to make 15 or so. This statement stamp is from Our Daily Bread Designs.
Thanks for the visit and comments!

How About Milk Chocolate?

This set from Stampin' up is so nice, it mixes coffee and tea images/sentiments. I always like the tea stamp sets, but I don't drink tea often. I don't know why that should bother me one way or another, but it does. I guess because I'm weird like that. Just ask my daughter. So we used the crimper on this, and punches, which is always fun. I think this might be nice with some milk chocolate, hence the title. Who doesn't need chocolate, (that feel good chemical reaction), to 'perk up'? I thought this would be a good card for a man, or a woman, thanks Susan. Until next time, CHEERS!!

Basil

A basil plant in the heat of the summer, and it's quite a hardy plant. Two cuttings have been taken already. I am a fan of good old Terra-cotta pots, this one is a bit fancy, as you can see, with a rolled top edge and carvings. This is part of my tiny herb "garden" and the third potted herb I've shown you. I have always wanted a basil plant for various reasons.
1. It's pretty
2. For it's culinary uses (though I'm not a cook)
3. For it's herbal medicine uses (as essential oil, tinctures, dried leaves)
.... first described in a Chinese herbal around 1060 C.E, and has been used for stomach spasms and kidney ailments....
....the essential oil is antibacterial, and drops of basil oil may relieve ear infections. European scientists are investigating the use of basil oil as treatment for antibiotic resistant infections....
.... dried basil leaf can be added directly to food or drunk as a tea (1/2 teaspoon of dried herb steeped for 10 minutes in 1 cup of boiling water in a closed container) to relieve flatulence and fullness....
Taken from Rose Mountain Herbs .com

I haven't yet ordered from RMH but I like the herb profiles and their blog. I will be ordering supplies by the end of the week. I'll let you know how it all goes.

Over the 4th

These are some photos of the party we decided to have at the last minute. Friends were going to come over to watch the parade that goes right in front of our home. We decided to have them come for a cookout too, so I got a red table cloth out and the only other patriotic things I had. Everyone offered to bring goodies, which they did.  Joann even brought the jello shots, because I had never made them before and she is a pro. Yes, yes, she is a pro, they were fantastic!!! That's why there are no pics of the table loaded with food or of any actual people. What can I say?
The Table

The Cracker Jacks I picked up because of the colors

I had red and blue cups left over from the Homecoming party

The basket on the table for the chips has a RW&B napkin tied on the handle and the other basket has the plates wrapped in a RW&B napkin.

Thanks for checking out my little photo display of the 4th.

Lavender & Rosemary

This is my first attempt at growing Lavender. I think I need to re-pot into a larger vessel, the plant just started growing so fast. There are a few purple petals where she has started to bloom, but I need to do a little reading on when to harvest and how to cut and dry.
This is my rosemary.  I want to start propagating her now that I know that I can. While blog hopping or browsing Pinterest, I came upon a post from  Juniper Moon Farm about how to propagate Rosemary, (I believe they want to grow a hedge eventually). I found out that you can do the same with Lavender, check out their fabulous blog or go through my Pinterest board, Herbal Apothecary. Visiting both of us would definately be worth your time.
Here is a closer shot of the Lavender and below a closer shot of the rosemary.

Thanks for stopping by, I would love to hear what you think and welcome any advice,
Hugs~Lori

Independence Day Medallion

update: This project was featured at Eye Heart Thanks Cinthya!!!!
JUST DO IT!

I've made another medallion deco for my front door. They can be time consuming to create, but so much fun. I advise everyone to just go for it! This one took approximately 1 hour or so, it's hard to tell, I made it yesterday taking several breaks.

Sunshine!

Here's another Stampin' Up card. The pinwheel uses the 5 new In Colors for 2012-2014. The green is actually muted, not bright as it appears here. All of the colors are muted this time. The only thing that I did differently was adding a bigger brad to the center, (I really messed up the hole punches).
